Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-06-05

Draft. Under legal review and not yet binding; final terms will be published before launch.

This policy explains what personal data KamuDNS collects when you search for, buy and manage domains, why, and your rights. The data controller is Kamu Group Oy (business ID 3624336-2), Lohkotie 2, 60720 Tuomikylä, Finland.

1. What we collect

Account data (email, and the registrant contact details required to register a domain: name, address, phone, country). Order and billing data (domains purchased, amounts; card details are handled by our payment processor, not stored by us). Technical data (IP address, basic logs) to run and secure the service.

2. Why we use it (legal basis)

To provide the service and perform our contract with you (register and manage your domains), to comply with ICANN and registry requirements, to process payments, and (on the basis of legitimate interest) to secure the service and prevent abuse. We send service emails (verification, renewal reminders, status) as part of providing the service.

3. WHOIS and the registry

Registering a domain requires sending registrant contact data to the relevant registry, as ICANN requires. Free WHOIS privacy is included on eligible domains, which keeps your details out of the public WHOIS where the registry permits it; some registries (e.g. certain ccTLDs) mandate publication or have their own rules.

4. Who we share with

Our registrar/registry partner (to register and maintain the domain), our payment processor (to take payment), and our email provider (to send service messages). These are processors or independent controllers acting under their own terms; we share only what each needs.

5. Retention

We keep account and domain records for as long as you have a domain or account with us, and afterwards as required for legal, tax and registry obligations. Logs are kept for a limited period for security.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your data, and object to certain processing. Note that some data must be retained or published to keep a domain registered. To exercise your rights, contact privacy@kamudns.com. You may also complain to your data protection authority.
